Our rabbit, Jemima, became ill with EC just before we were due to go away on holiday, she was originally going to stay with my parents but we realised she needed alot more care than they were able to give her. We began to search for a boarding place that could look after her while we were away but struggled to find one who could look after poorly rabbits. We were seriously contemplating cancelling our holiday but then we stumbled across the Blackberry Boarding website. Although it was very short notice Sharon and Chris said they would be able to care for her while we were away.

Even before we dropped her off Sharon and Chris took time to find out about all her needs and requirements including her food and daily regime. We cannot fault the efforts Sharon and Chris went to, they took her for regular check ups at the vets, syringe fed her and administered her medicines. Sharon also gave us regular updates through email.

We would highly recommend the services Sharon and Chris provide, they clearly love rabbits and they cared for Jemima like she was their own. We travelled from Leeds but the care that Jemima received made the long journey worthwhile.

Unfortunately about 6 weeks after getting back from our holiday Jemima became more ill and had to be put to sleep. But if we decide to get another rabbit in future and we find ourselves to be in a similar situation Sharon and Chris will be our first port of call

Our poor rabbit Oscar had a case of e. cuniculi which left him paralysed. At the start, although he was eating, he really did nothing more than lay on his side. After a week or so with our vet they thought there was nothing more they could do for Osc and thought it was time to say goodbye. After speaking with Sharon, we sought a second opinion from Sharon's vet who thought Osc needed more time preferably in a more bunny friendly environment rather than at the vets. This is where Chris and Sharon came in. Oscar stayed with them for about 4 weeks. Slowly Osc made progress thanks to the love, care and constant watching over him that Sharon and Chris undertook. After about 3 weeks he was able to sit up unaided. We were all very excited about this as we felt it a sure sign that Osc would pull through. By around the 4th week he was beginning to walk again. Osc has now been home with us for 2 weeks and is continuing to make prtogress, now hopping around the garden and behaving as a bunny should. If it wasn't for Chris and Sharon, Osc wouldn't be here now. We cannot thank them both enough for everything they did for Osc.

Our mutual love of rabbits was how I first met Sharon. I run a rabbit and guinea pig rescue and Sharon came to adopt one of our orphan bunnies. She now has quite a menagerie of bunnies, as well as the additions of guinea pigs and degus. Her excuse for the piggies and degus is that in order to care for other peoples pets properly she needs to have personal experience of them. Well, I will leave you to ponder on her reasoning! I guess Chris is just relieved that she did not decide to board giraffes or something!

Whenever I have a medical crisis at the rescue I always go to Sharon for advice. She has a very in depth knowledge of the complexities of rabbits and will always put herself out to help when she can.

Both Sharon and Chris are very caring genuine people, and I can assure anyone who wishes to leave their beloved pet in their care, that he/she or they will be in capable, loving hands

I recommend Blackberry Boarding to anyone who needs a safe and caring home-from-home for their rabbit while they are away. Sharon and Chris are the only people I want to look after our house bunny, Barnsley, when we are on holiday, as they make every effort to give each rabbit the highest possible standard of care. For me (and Barnsley), the 2 hour round trip from home is definitely worth making. While he is with Sharon, Barnsley is able to behave just as he does at home, particularly enjoying his exploration of her lounge and his evening treats and cuddle session! I always feel totally relaxed about leaving Barnsley at Blackberry Boarding, knowing that he will have a lovely holiday while I am gone.

Your obvious knowledge of caring for rabbits as well as your enthusiasm reassured me that my pets would be well looked after. I have used Blackberry Boarding twice in the last 6 months, and my only concern is that my bunnies are so well treated they won't want to come home!

Many thanks for the great service,

Lauren Kates

Knowing that our rabbit Smudge was being well looked after by experts while we've been on holiday has made going away much easier. We received regular updates about how he was getting on while we were away and when we came back he seemed incredibly contented (we wondered whether he really wanted to come home!)

Thanks to Sharon Smudge also met his true love Suzi and so in future both our rabbits will be spending their holidays at Blackberry Boarding.
